Zenit – Leipzig

Zenit hosts RB Leipzig in a secong game from the 1/8-finals of the Europa League. The match is going to be played at the Stadion Krestovskyi in the city of Sankt-Peterburg.

RB Leipzig have a slight advantage after a 2-1 win in the first game. Bruma and Timo Werner gave the German team a two goals lead, before seeing Domenico Criscito saving Zenit’s chances of progression with a late goal just four minutes before the end.

Now Zenit will have the chance to qualify in front of their own fans, but the goal advantage is in RB Leipzig’s favour.

For Roberto Mancini’s Zenit it’s a strange season. The club from Sankt-Peterburg started the season in the Russian Premier League very good, leading the standings from the start. But after that something happened and Zenit’s performances started to get worse and worse. Right now Zenit are 5th in the Premier League standings, trailing on 10 points behind the leader Lokomotiv Moscow.

In their last five games in the Russian league, Zenit won just once. They also made three draws and lost once. Clearly Mancini’s side is not in its best condition at the moment, which gives RB Leipzig serious chances to progress. We can say that right now Roberto Mancini is dissapointing with the team’s performance.

RB Leipzig on the other hand continue to fight for another Champions League qualification. They are currently 6th in the Bundesliga standings, trailing on 4 points behind the 4th Bayer Leverkusen. This is not the best possible position for RB Leipzig, but they still have chances to get into the Top 4. But here’s the moment to say that RB Leipzig are in a run of four consecutive games without a win in the Bundesliga.

This is our examination of the Europa League game between Zenit and RB Leipzig. Good luck!
