PSG – Saint-Etienne
It’s time for the Coupe de France to have its new champion. PSG and Saint-Etienne will face each other at the Stade de France on Friday and one of these two clubs will celebrate winning the trophy. Let’s preview this final and see what these two teams are about at the moment.
PSG are the most successful club in the history of the Coupe de France. The Parisians have won the trophy 12 times so far, which is a record. The Ligue 1 champions have a very good reason to be fully motivated before this final. Last year they reached the final game again, but shockingly lost against Rennes. Now Thomas Tuchel’s team have an opportunity to redeem itself and do better.
During the 1/2-finals PSG showed their enormous strenght and crushed Olympique Lyonnais with 5-1 in Lyonnais. Rudi Garcia’s team actually opened the score at the Groupama Stadium, but after this PSG showed how good they are. The biggest French star on the planet Kylian Mbappe scored a hattrick for the visitors, while Neymar and Pablo Sarabia also put the ball in the net. It was an amazing masterclass performance by PSG.
At the same time Saint-Etienne reached the final after a win over the current trophy holders Rennes. Claude Puel’s team hosted Rennes at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard and conceded first, but at the end won the game with goals from Kolodziejczak and Boudebouz.
We have to remind you that there weren’t any official game in France since March due to coronavirus. Both PSG and Saint-Etienne played some friendlies, but that’s all. We don’t expect to see these teams in a peak form, but we still expect a good final in Paris. PSG are the favourites, but they were ones against Rennes an year ago, too. This is a final and everything is possible.
