Olympique Lyonnais – PSG
Olympique Lyonnais hosts PSG in the big derby of the 22th round of the French Ligue 1.
Olympique Lyonnais are currently 3rd in the Ligue 1 standings. They have won 45 points so far and they have a record of 13 wins, 6 draws and 2 defeats. The team’s main goal is a Top 3 finish and a qualification for the Champions League and so far they are moving pretty well. They have 2 points advantage in front of the 4th Monaco, so one thing is for sure – the battle for a Champions League qualification is going to be intense.
In their last five matches Lyonnais won four times and lost points only during the 1-1 draw with Angers. It was a dissapointing result for OL, because they have lost two points against a lesser team.
Now the big dog is coming to town. PSG are stronger than ever after the transfer business the club did during the summer. Unai Emery’s team is leading the Ligue 1 standings with 56 points and 9 points advantage in front of the 2nd Olympique Marseille. For now it doesn’t look like someone could stop PSG for the title.
If you need to be convinced about PSG’s class, just look at the team’s goal difference since the start of the campaign. PSG have scored 67 goals so far and they have conceded just 15. In their last game PSG enjoyed a thrilling 8-0 win over Dijon at home, with Neymar scoring four goals for the winning team.
PSG can’t be stopped in France and it’s an obvious thing. The club’s big ambition remains the Champions League. Everyone in Paris hopes that this time PSG will clinch the European cup for a first time in the club’s history. Ligue 1 looks like it’s already won.
