Liverpool – Arsenal
Liverpool welcomes Arsenal in the big derby of the third round of the Premier League. Both teams won their first two games for the season, so now they will try to make third in a row. But make no mistake – it’s going to be a tough game for both sides.
Liverpool are chasing their first league title from many, many years. Last season the Reds finished second after Manchester City, so now they will make another try to win the league. We can say that they started the campaign in the best way possible, winning their first two games.
After the win over Norwich City in the first round, Liverpool achieved another win during the visit to Southampton. Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino scored for the European champion, while Liverpool’s ex-player Danny Ings scored the Saints’ only goal in the match.
Just like Liverpool, Arsenal won both of their opening games in the league. In the first round the Gunners achieved a win during the visit to Newcastle United, while in the second round Unai Emery’s boys celebrated a difficult 2-1 win over Burnley at the Emirates. Alexandre Lacazette opened the score for Arsenal, but Ashley Barnes equalised for the visitors. The Gunners clinched the win in the second half when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the winner for the home side.
When Liverpool hosted Arsenal at the Anfield last season, Jurgen Klopp’s team didn’t face many problems to beat the Gunners. The European champions are the favourites in this clash, especially at the Anfield, but Arsenal are being effective since the start of the new campaign. Liverpool might win this one, but we don’t expect to happen very easily.
That’s our look at the Liverpool – Arsenal clash at the Anfield on Saturday. Liverpool will aim to make it three in a row since the start of the campaign, but Arsenal will fight hard in order to avoid losing.
