Germany hosts Belarus
Germany hosts Belarus at the Borussia-Park in Monchengladbach in a qualifying game for Euro 2020. Another easy win for the Mannschaft? Let’s take a look.
At this moment Germany are locked in a rough battle with Netherlands for the first place in the group. Right now both teams have the same amount of points – 15, but the Dutch side is leading the group because of the head-to-head records. In the same time Netherlands are having a tough visit to Northern Ireland in Belfast, so Germany will hope that Ronald Koeman’s boys will make a mistake there.
In six games played so far in this group, Germany have a record of five wins and one loss. Their only defeat in the group so far came in the home clash against Netherlands. Despite of this, Joachim Low’s team still have a solid chance to win the group. But they will need some help.
In the previous round of the campaign Germany didn’t surpsie anyone with an easy 3-0 win during the visit to Estonia. Manchester City’s midfielder Ilkay Gundogan scored twice in the match, while RB Leipzig’s striker Timo Werner added a third goal. It was a routine performance for the Mannschaft.
In the same time Belarus have won just 4 points in this group so far, being 4th in the standings, only ahead of Estonia. So far the Belarusians have a mediocre record of one win, one draw and five losses.
In their previous game Belarus hosted Netherlands and suffered a 1-2 defeat. Stanislau Dragun scored for the hosts, but the Dutch team secured the win with a brace from Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum.
In this game between Germany and Belarus we absolutely do not expect any surprises. The four time world champions are aware that they must win and hope that Netherlands will make a mistake in Belfast.
