Feyenoord – Napoli
Feyenoord welcomes Napoli in a game from Group F of the UEFA Champions League.
Feyenood returned to the Champions League after a long absence, but their return to the competition was not a successful one. The Dutch champions have not won a single point in their five games so far, being on the last fourth place in the group with 0 points so far.
After winning the Dutch Eredivisie last season, there were hopes that Feyenoord will leave a good impression with their performance in the Champions League. Well, it didn’t happen. The Dutch team was unable to cope with the competition’s standards, becoming one of the weakest teams in the Champions League for this season.
Napoli on the other hand are very close to losing the battle for the second place with Shakthar Donetsk. The Italian team is currently third in the group standings, trailing on three points behind Shakhtar. To qualify for the 1/8-finals, Napoli need to beat Feyenoord and hope that Manchester City will win against Shakhtar in the other game.
It’s a long shot, because it’s expected to see Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola picking all of his reserves for the game in Ukraine. Man City already won the first place in this group, so now they could think about the important derby with Manchester United during the weekend.
Most of the people expected to see Napoli winning one of the first two places in this group, but the Italian team dissapointed with its performances. Right now Napoli are closer to Europa League than they are to the 1/8-finals. But they do not have any other choice than beating Feyenoord on Dutch soil and hope that Manchester City will do them a favour in the other game on Ukrainian soil. It’s not easy, but it’s possible.
