Besiktas – Monaco

Besiktas faces Monaco in a game from Group G of the UEFA Champions League.

Surprising or not, Besiktas are the confident leader in this group with 9 points won from three matches so far. The Turkish club is flawless in its performance so far and they have beaten all of their opponents so far. Including Monaco.

These two times met in Monaco just two weeks ago and Besiktas enjoyed a 2-1 win over the French champion. The striker Cenk Tosun scored both goals for the Turks, while Radamel Falcao scored for the home team. But his goal was not enough for Monaco to win something from this match.

Maybe many people are surprised by Besiktas’ perfect performance so far, but the truth is they are playing very good so far. And now they will have the help of their fantastic fans against Leonardo Jardim’s side.

And if Besiktas are flawless in the competition so far, for Monaco this is maybe the last chance to chase something more in this group. So far the French champion have won just one point in the group, being on the last 4th place. This is surprising, because last season they reached the 1/2-finals of the competition, alongside winning Ligue 1. But in the summer they sold a lot of their star players, which is affecting their performance now.

In the Turkish Super Lig Besiktas are currently 3rd, trailing on 5 points behind the leader Galatasaray. It’s not a pleasant situation for them, but they still have enough time to regroup and defend their title.

As for Monaco, right now they are 2nd in Ligue 1, being behind the big favourite for the trophy PSG. How we said, in the summer Monaco lost a lot of their best players and this is causing them some problems now.
