Arsenal hosts Olympiakos

Arsenal hosts Olympiakos at the Emirates in a second leg from the 1/16-finals of Europa League. We are going to preview this game in London in the coming few paragraphs.

The English team made a solid first step towards the next round the previous week when Arsenal left Greece with a 1-0 win. The game at the Georgios Karaiskaki was nearing a 0-0 draw, but in the 81th minute Arsenal scored an important goal. Alexandre Lacazette recieved the ball from Bakayo Saka and put it in the net. This gives Mikel Arteta’s team a good advantage before the second leg at the Emirates.

It seems that Arsenal are starting to click under the management of Mikel Arteta. The club’s recent results is proving it. Arsenal won four of their last five games in all competitions, which also helped them to move to just 4 points to the 5th Manchester United in the Premier League.

On Sunday Arsenal had a tough challenge against Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton, but the Gunners achieved a 3-2 win at the Emirates. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a brace for the hosts, while the young gun Edward Nketiah also put his name on the score sheet after an assist from Bakayo Saka.

Olympiakos are aware that they are facing a very tough challenge on Thursday. They must beat Arsenal in London and this is never an easy task. Especially now when the Gunners are in such a good shape.

Few days ago the Greek team played a derby against PAOK in their domestic league which they won with 1-0 in the city of Thessaloniki. PAOK’s Dimitris Giannoulis scored himself an own goal, which was enough for Olympiakos to win.

In conclusion we can state that Arsenal are favourites to eliminate Olympiakos and progress in Europa League. It’d be very surprising if this doesn’t happen on Thursday.
